We are blessed by the kindness and compassion of our caregivers at Francis House.
“Emily Smith is such a blessing for Francis House; living the mission and values of compassion, acceptance, respect, and dignity every day she walks through the doors. She is hardworking and will go the extra mile to make residents, family members, volunteers, and her co-workers feel special.”
What inspired you to join Francis House?
“My husband’s Nonnie passed away at Francis House 21 years ago. He told me how amazing of a place it was and what they did for his family. This inspired me to apply to Francis House and give back to others – to be there for other families as they did for my husband’s family and Nonnie.”
What is your favorite memory from your time working as a caregiver?
“I was speaking to a resident about my family going to Myrtle Beach. She mentioned how she loved sea turtles. While on my trip, I bought her a sea turtle stuffed animal. When I came back to Francis House, I gave her the turtle and she was beyond grateful and happy. Seeing her light up with a smile brought me so much joy.”
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned working at Francis House?
“The most valuable lesson I have learned is compassion. To be able to care for someone while they are getting ready for their next journey is truly rewarding.”
