We are delighted to announce the formation of the
Sister Kathleen Osbelt
Center for Education & Outreach
Building on the programming we have offered through Francis House Education & Outreach, our new name honors Sr. Kathleen’s vision, her lasting legacy of service and holds her as a role model for our education and outreach.
From our offices on the third floor of the original 108 house, the center will continue to offer education and support for our community while focusing and expanding programming and outreach for families, caregivers and all those who help care for people at the end of life.
The Sister Kathleen Osbelt Center continues Francis House’s mission to share our lived experience as a resource for others.
Our programming strives to be responsive to the current needs of our community. Some areas of focus will be:
- Education on creating a supportive and homelike environment for people at the end of life
- Empowering healthy and natural grieving processes
- Community education on end-of-life needs and issues, grief and grieving, and spiritual care
- Education and support for family, friends, caregivers, healthcare workers
- Support and education for those seeking to open a social-model home
- Increasing awareness, dialogue and comfort around end-of-life conversations and planning
- Self-care for caregivers and families
We share our lived Francis House experience as a resource for others.
We use our core Franciscan values of compassion, acceptance, respect, dignity and relationship to increase awareness, educate, serve, and support persons with terminal illness and all those who care for them.
