A Caring Transition


Sally Manahan, RN, NP, MSN

Assistant Director of Mission Outreach and Education

Sally Manahan has served the Francis House mission for 13 years, leading all aspects of resident care. A recent graduate of Fr. Richard Rohr’s Franciscan-based Living School program, Sally will now serve throughout our community as the Assistant Director of Mission Outreach and Education. After nearly forty years as a nurse, Sally’s wealth of experience includes being an Oncology Nurse Practitioner with certifications in end-of-life, as well as many years as an instructor in the nursing program at Crouse Hospital.

In Sally’s new role, she will help develop and present programming for staff, volunteers, our residents and their families, and community members that promote Franciscan principles and compassionate care for the dying. Sally’s background and experience will allow her to provide comprehensive outreach and education on the social-model philosophy of care, death and dying, grief and bereavement, and spirituality. In addition, Sally will also assist with memorial services, retreats, and spiritual care.


Kristie Meyer, RN

Admissions Resident Care Coordinator

Kristie Meyer, RN, is now the Admissions Resident Care Coordinator. Kristie joined Francis House in September 2019. She was a certified oncology nurse at Crouse Hospital where she served as charge nurse, as well as bedside nurse, for a diverse patient population, specifically oncology, GYN oncology, and hematology.

In Kristie’s new role, she will oversee the referral process by collaborating with the Intake Assessment Coordinators, oversee the admissions process by transitioning residents and families into Francis House, provide community education and support in collaboration with Mission Outreach, oversee on-call staffing, and performance management improvements and training for staff.

Kristie is currently working on her MBA with a focus on leadership at LeMoyne College.


Emily Young, RN, MSN

In-House Resident Care Coordinator

Emily Young, RN, MSN is the new In-House Resident Care Coordinator. Emily joined the Francis House family in February 2023 with 12 years of nursing experience, specifically in education and adult medicine. She completed her Masters in Nursing Leadership in 2020.

In her new role, Emily will oversee all of the day-to-day aspects of the resident care team; such as scheduling and staffing needs. She will interact with all residents and families to answer any questions or concerns they have while at Francis House. She will coordinate the new orientation and training for care staff, as well as yearly education for current caregivers.

Emily recently competed her classes for ordination and is a licensed pastor through the Wesleyan Church.
